Tyler grew up in the great state of Iowa in a small town of about 800 people. Due to a fear of snow, he decided to move to San Antonio in 2000 and has never looked back. “I’m pretty happy to know that I will never shovel snow as long as I live!”
Tyler spent many years on the waterski team at Sea Word in San Antonio right next to his big brother and best friend, Dana. With Sea World, he was able to travel to many places around the globe including Sydney, Australia and Osaka, Japan. As soon as he returned home he decided to join the family business.
Tyler has been happily married to his lovely wife Jami for 6 years. Jami is an accountant with a local accounting firm. They have an amazing three and a half year old daughter Lyla. “She is constant entertainment, she is so intelligent, creative and funny. My cheeks hurt at the end of the day from laughing! She must be part Jack Russell Terrier and part Tasmanian devil! She has endless amounts of energy!”
As for down time, Tyler and Jami enjoy their yearly vacation with his parents at the Lake of the Ozarks located in Missouri. “It’s a really special time of the year for us especially now that Lyla is older. She loves the water! It’s hard to keep her out of it. This summer we taught her how to Waterski, and it was a very proud moment for me. She did such a great job, and it was really fun to see.”
Along with the lake, Tyler and Jami also enjoy playing cribbage. “I am the house champ! No need to verify with Jami…I am the house champ!”
Tyler started out in this business as an office manager for First Fidelity Tax and Insurance. He helped expand the business by opening up over 15 new locations throughout the state of Texas. He then became VP of agent development for all of the Texas offices. “It was a very fun time, I really enjoyed helping develop new agents, and helping them grow their business. In 2010, with the birth of Lyla, I wanted to stop all the travel though. My Monday morning commute was to Houston! That’s when I shifted my focus to a full time agent.”
Tyler shifted his focus to helping retirees with their IRA and (401)k rollovers and helping them avoid the most common financial mistakes.
He worked full time as an agent with First Fidelity Tax & Insurance in the New Braunfels office until 2012. He then joined forces with his brother Dana at Reliance Retirement Services.
